Yuk Ying, 88, from Morton, PA and previously of Springfield, PA, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.She was the beloved wife of Francis Dor Mark, who preceded her in death after 58 years of marriage. She was the daughter of the late Tong Yee and Mui Nui.
Born in Taishan County, Guangdong Province, China on August 11, 1936, Yuk Ying immigrated to the United States. Alongside her husband, she owned and operated a laundry and grocery store on West Philadelphia. In 1976, they opened the Phoenix Inn restaurant in Chinatown, successfully running it for 15 years. Family was the most important aspect of her life.She expressed her love and appreciation for family and friends through the delicious meals she prepared. She also delighted in gardening, hosting family gatherings, visiting with her grandchildren, and enjoying time with friends. An avid sports fan, Yuk Ying enjoyed following the Phillies, Eagles, and 76ers. She lived her life with grace and humility, and her friendly demeanor made others feel welcome.
Yuk Ying is survived by four children: June Mark (John Goodnow), Richard Mark (Janice Mark), Susan Mark-Sracic (Paul Sracic), and Lana Mark (Hal Erickson). She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Bing Mark. She was the grandmother of six grandchildren: Kenneth Mark, Victoria Mark, Katya Sracic, Michael Goodnow, Anna Sracic, and Lena Goodnow. She is survived by two sisters, two sisters-in law, and also numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation on Saturday, November 23, 2024. at 10:00 am at Collenbrook United Church, located at 5290 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA. Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 am. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery, 2556 Susquehanna Road, Roslyn, PA after the service.
