Paul G. Jr. of West Chester. Paul was called to God on Sunday, October 15, 2017. He died as he lived: with dignity, humility, and surrounded by those who adored him. Born on March 29, 1935 in Philadelphia, Paul was the only child of Mary Jane (Kehoe) and Paul Gerard Coleman, Sr. He was raised in West Philadelphia, attending Our Mother of Sorrows Elementary School and St.Thomas More High School (class 0f '53). Paul received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from St. Joseph's University; he later earned a Master in Business Administration through an executive program. In May 1961 Paul married Annette, the woman he would refer to for the next 56 years as "his bride". Shortly after their wedding, Paul's Army Reserve Unit was called to active duty, and the couple relocated to Fort Bragg, North Carolina. They eventually returned north and settled in Springfield, PA, where they would reside for more than 40 years. They moved to Hershey's Mill in West Chester in 2001. Paul worked as a programmer for Wyeth Labs and then as a Systems Analyst for Sun Oil Company; he spent 25 years in different roles at the company in both Philadelphia and Radnor. Paul retired in 1990 and quickly realized that downtime didn't suit him. By 1993, he entered his 2.0 career; he spent 14 years teaching degree-completion business courses as an adjunct faculty member at Cabrini University in Radnor, PA. Paul also volunteered in local government, the West Chester School District, and senior citizens programs. Throughout his life, Paul enjoyed travel, good food, a strong cup of coffee, jelly doughnuts, and pizza with a cold beer. He loved all sports, especially the Philadelphia Phillies and NCAA basketball. While he was a die-hard St. Joseph's Hawks fan, he also rooted for the George Washington Colonials, the Villanova Wildcats and the Ohio State Buck-eyes - alma maters to his daughter and son-in-law. Paul had a great love of the seashore - especially Ocean City and Hilton Head Island. Even when his children became adults, the long standing tradition of South Carolina vacations continued. Paul is survived by his wife, Annette, and their children Rosanne Cowen (William), Carolyn McGinley (Patrick), Christine Coleman; and grandchildren Samantha (24), Daniela (22), Edward (19), and Nina (10). In addition, Paul will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, who remember Uncle Paul, Mr. C, "Coach" as the elegant but unpretentious gentleman who always had a kind word. On Saturday, October 21, 2017 there will be a viewing from 10-11 am at St. Patrick's Church at 104 Channing Avenue in Malvern, PA. immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery at 1600 Sproul Road.
