MARK
Francis Dor Mark, 92, from Morton, PA and previously of Springfield, PA died peacefully on March 29, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Yuk Ying Mark for 58 years. He was the son of the late Mark S. Cheung and Yip Shee Mark. Born in Pun Sek village, Taishan County, Guangdong, China on September 1, 1924, he immigrated to the U.S., did farm labor, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, owned and operated a laundry and grocery store in West Philadelphia, and was a partner in the Shangri-La restaurant in Chinatown. In 1976 he started the Phoenix Inn restaurant in Chinatown and operated it successfully for 15 years. He was a longtime member, and once head, of the Mark family association. Francis was very social and loved talking with customers, friends and family about a range of topics. He was an avid sports fan especially enjoying the Phillies, Eagles and 76ers. After retirement, he enjoyed travel, including a trip to China, and time spent with family especially visiting his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Francis is survived by his five children: Bing Mark, June Mark and husband John Goodnow, Richard Mark and wife Janice, Susan Mark-Sracic and husband Paul Sracic, and Lana Mark and husband Hal Erickson. He was the grandfather of six grandchildren, Kenneth Mark, Victoria Mark, Katya Sracic, Michael Goodnow, Anna Sracic, and Lena Goodnow. He was the brother of Alexander Mark and his wife Toy Ping Mark. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing on Monday, April 3, 2017, from 9:30 at the Philadelphia Chinese Christian Church and Center 225 N. 10th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107 followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30 am. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery 2556 Susquehanna Road, Roslyn, PA 19001 following the service.
